Sustainability
With a goal of achieving significant cost savings for our clients while operating properties in the most sustainable and environmentally-friendly manner possible, Taylor & Mathis has undertaken the following initiatives at properties we manage:
- Single-stream recycling programs (all waste is recycled except for food products)
- Light bulb recycling
- LEED certification in new building construction (most recently for 10-story office tower at MetWest International in Tampa, FL)
- LEED-EB certification attained for several existing buildings in Florida; others currently in certification process
- Energy Star rating attained for most buildings; others are in process of attaining rating
- Use low environmental impact products in janitorial and pest control operations
- Installation of low-flow plumbing fixtures (either in new construction of during retrofits)
- Currently using private ground water wells as irrigation water source at TownPark project in Atlanta, GA
- Instituted paperless (email-based) work order systems and tenant communication/newsletter mediums
- Utilizing drought tolerant landscape materials in new projects and installing rain gauges on irrigation equipment
- Ongoing coordination with tenants and agencies in promoting use of public transportation, carpooling and vanpooling
- Lighting retrofits (to energy-saving ballasts and lamps) completed at multiple properties
- Thermostat retrofits (replace pneumatic with digital) completed at multiple properties
